Daniel Zaug has directed and edited many instructional to corporate announcement videos. Most shoots would use the standard three-light with diffusers set up and two cameras for easy editing. Lights were adjusted to create even soft shadows on the subject while setting the cameras to an appropriate angle.
Below is a recent video for Daniel’s invention that he directed and edited, then created a webpage to email to all company sales representatives. The setup for this internal video was only one light with a softbox and two Canon DSLR cameras. Daniel edited this video with Finalcut Pro and layered graphics to create the intro.
Having shot videos for many years as well as using the same light and camera setups for the product shots, Daniel moved into the 3D world. When 3D animating, you start with an empty world and add cameras and lights as needed. With full control over every aspect of the scene, Daniel understood how every element worked together to produce impactful shots. You can see some of Daniel’s full animations created from storyboards through to the final renders using all aspects of directing composition at this link.
